Com Link, Inc.
Local Area Network Parties
Com Link has always been a place that welcomes enthusiastic young computer users. Their sense of fun, interest in computers and support of Com Link has made my job more enjoyable throughout the years. As a way of fostering these budding Bill Gates types, or as I refer to them “The Klingons” I have gradually invested in the infrastructure for LAN parties at Com Link to provide a safe and stimulating environment for young people to have a place to play computer games and make new friends. Com Link does so primarily at our own expense, with a nominal admission fee to offset expenses.
A LAN party essentially consists of a group of like-minded computer videogame players who set up their systems up on single local network or LAN and play the same computer game. These games can be strategy based games, fantasy based or our favorite good old shoot-em ups. LAN parties at Com Link typically go on from 8 to 24 hours and are a good place to hone your gaming skills, learn to setup LAN connections and learn the latest “geek speak” and hardware configurations from other gamers.
Gamers are required to bring their own computer tower, but monitors and keyboard are provided. We recommend you bring your own high quality optical mouse and your own copy of games to play. Some games can legally be shared in the context of a LAN. While we are not the LAN police, etiquette dictates that they should be removed from your system afterwards. All systems must have up-to-date antivirus protection.
While these events remain primarily closed functions, if you are interested in attending a LAN party you can email Com Link and the LAN administrator and will see about partnering you up with a sponsor for your first LAN event.
